If student videos use any images or audio that were created by someone else, they need to be sourced. The only exception to this is the background music that comes pre-populated in programs such as iMovie - these are usually provided royalty free and may used in any video. However, if you import any music or audio to your video, it must be sourced. The easiest way of doing this is to add a "credits page" at the end of your video and list the images with the source. To self-check if you have sourced an image or audio properly, ask yourself these two questions:
- Is it clear that someone else other than me created this image or audio?
- Could someone easily find the original source online based on the information you have provided?

Here is a screen shot of question 13 from COPYRIGHT MATTERS!. This explains how students can use music in their videos as long as it is sourced. Please work with students to ensure they understand how to source their use of others work properly.
